I went camping with Boy Scouts over Friday and Saturday to go rafting. I also planned to get a little fishing in. Me and my dad decided to forgo the bigger, well known lakes such as Twin Lakes. Instead, we went to Chalk Creek Lake, near Nathrop. The fishing was spectacular. Bites almost every cast. I got five cutthroats, six stocker rainbows, and two browns. My dad got six rainbows and two cutthroats. We got our fish on a variety of baits, but the best was a size 10 yellow Pistol Pete five feet behind a bubble. Pink powerbait and salmon eggs were also effective. We fished from about eight A.M. to ten thirty A.M.
The fish in the picture was average size for both the cutthroats and the rainbows. The browns were much smaller. The fish shown is about 13" long. All thick fish.
