NORTHGLENN – The Colorado Division of Wildlife and the City of Northglenn have authorized no-limit fishing at Croke Reservoir until further notice.
Officials say an upcoming city construction project will require draining and dredging of the reservoir this summer and in order to minimize the number of fish lost during the process, the DOW authorized the unlimited fishing.
The reservoir is located one block north of 104th Avenue, directly off Huron Street in Northglenn.
City and wildlife officials say anglers will still be required to have a valid Colorado fishing license and may use any legal fishing methods, in addition to specially permitted methods of snagging, seines and dip nets.
Once the area wildlife manager sets an ending date for the fishing salvage, as many fish as possible will be captured by the DOW and transported to nearby bodies of water.
At that time, the Croke Reservoir will be dredged and construction will begin.
Officials say they plan to deepen the reservoir and increase its capacity, as well as reconstructing the eastern shoreline.
Fishing licenses are available online through the DOW Web site.
