I was on the West Slope this weekend and managed to get a few hours fishing in on Rifle Gap Reservoir. If you're wanting Jumbo perch this is the place. My best was 13 inches, smallest 8 inches. I fished the West inlet area. The perch were along the North and South shores in 5-8 feet of water tight to the bottom. Water is clear mostly, but there are mud lines next to shore due to the boat traffic. Water is 59-61 degrees and the afternoon thunder storms kicked up the winds and made it difficult in a float tube.
I also caught several small pike to 24 inches. They were near the surface but holding over 8-15 feet of water, which surprised me.
All my fish came on 3 inch Gray/white clousers. The perch liked a slow retrieve, but the pike preferred a faster strip.
