I've fished the Greeley intake area twice this year (including last Sunday) and have yet to see a crappie on my line. I've seen others catching a few small crappie tight to the inlet stucture and also in the channel out in deeper water (over 15 ft). Those catching appeared to be using minnows and/or small jigs under a bobber. My catches have been largemouth, white bass and Carp. I'm expecting things to get "hot" fairly soon.
Thanks for the tip. I actually drove by there earlier today and it's close but not quite there. Horseshoe was looking good.......I have caught several nice Wally's and Crappie there on the south end. Looks like the quit letting water out and into Boyd though.......
Fished Boyd tonight in the inlet area. The crappie and white bass are stacked up and quite cooperative. Nothing huge, but the action was fast and no stop most of the evening. The only downsides were the wind, rain and lightening. But the weather kept most fishers away so we had most of the water to ourselves.
All the fish came on small streamers, and frankly I couldn't find a color combination that didn't work. Not sure how long this will last, but its fun right now. I only hope most are released, as we did. The crappie are staging for spawn, as I suspect are the white bass.
