Fished Douglas this afternoon. Was rather hoping it would be warm enough to gets some smallmouth, crappie or wiper action. Zilch on all accounts. All I spoke to were having a slow day (quite a few fishers today), with a few trout being caught. Water has cooled and is only 44-46 in the main reservoir.
I started looking for warmer water and/or water movement, so I paddled up the inlet. I found warmer water, mid-50's. No water flowing, but what I did find was at least entertaining. The inlet is loaded with Carp and they are quite active in one to three feet of water, perfect for a fly fisher. A #6 brown woolly bugger proved to be the ticket. I landed numberous carp up to 24 inches or so, even have one go air borne on me. So if you're just looking for a good time landing big fish the inlet is a good spot.
