Does anyone have any information on fishing at Elk Head Reservoir in NW Colorado? Especially Bass.

Thanks,

Only what was posted on the Colorado State Park site (Yampa River State Park).

Fishing Report - 3/26/2007
. . . Elkhead Reservior will be opening in May to day use only. Access will be limited to the Boat Ramp area only. Smallmouth Bass, Crappie, Bluegill and Trout will be restocked into the reservior.

I gather the lake has been drained down for dam work and its being filled this year.

Elkhead was drained a few years ago to build a better dam. The old dam was letting a lot of bass and pike into the Yampa, so they are reopening this summer. They went through and shocked all the pike and bass out of the river (or what they could). So now the fish should not be able to escape through the dam. Anyhow, the fishing, if it's anything similar to what it used to be, should be pretty good. It's a great lake for the family too.
