October 6 Through November 10
By Rocky Mountain Flycasters
Our partners at the US Forest Service are looking for help documenting where brown trout appear in the Big South Fork of the Poudre River. This effort has Poudre Headwaters Project implications, as biologists need to know what other species exist in the lower reaches of the project area.
Volunteers are needed to fish specific sections of the river, and to provide photos and map coordinates for all brown trout caught in those areas. Fishing on the Big South was recently reported to be very good, so even if volunteers don't document any brown trout, they'll likely still have a great time.
As an incentive, we are offering prizes for volunteers participating between October 11 and November 10 for:
The most brown trout caught and properly documented in one day in the area of interest (described below)
The brown trout caught the greatest distance (upstream) from the Big South Trailhead on Highway 14
The prize for each category is a $100 gift certificate from St. Peter's Fly Shop. You could be an overachiever and win both prizes!!
