Once you satisfy a challenge, simply take an image with the fish you caught in that location (take photo using “Keep Fish Wet” principals), or take a picture of your filled out Citizen Science data sheet (recording sheets are provided after registration) and send the images to us to verify that you explored one the Yampa’s tributaries and participated in a challenge there.

CPW Meeting Re: Arkansas Riv water temps below Pue - 6:0 pm
Colorado Parks and Wildlife invites the public to attend a one-hour meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 6, to hear the agency's proposal to adjust temperature standards for water in the Arkansas River below the dam at Lake Pueblo State Park. "CPW is seeking to adjust temperature standards to match existing conditions for the Arkansas River from the dam to its confluence with Wildhorse/Dry Creek Arroyo, about five miles east," said Mindi May, CPW's water quality program coordinator. "The proposed standards would not allow warming of the river beyond historical levels and will protect the existing cold water fishery." What: Colorado Parks and Wildlife invites the public to a one-hour presentation on its proposal to adjust temperature standards for Arkansas River water in the segment below the Lake Pueblo dam and, in particular, the temperature of flows leaving CPW's Pueblo State Fish Hatchery. When: 6 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 6 Where: Lake Pueblo State Park Visitor Center, Pueblo Reservoir Road, Pueblo, 81005. Those who cannot attend in person will be able to view the meeting on Zoom.

Lake Fork Flyathlon - 8:0 am
Lake Fork Flyathlon The Flyathlon is a multi-sport event that integrates three activities that are surging in popularity trailrunning, fly fishing, and craft beer. While many enjoy these activities independently, we have found over the years that putting them together is even more enjoyable. Simply put, many of the best and most beautiful places to fish are way back in the woods, and the quickest way to get back to these remote places to maximize fishing time is to trail run. And once you have run back from that mountain lake or stream (or while you are there…), all of that effort is rewarded with high quality, local craft beer. This is the Lake Fork Flyathlon. As many of you have experienced over the years, the weather at this time of year is unpredictable, the fishing is somewhat challenging, and the after-party is bad ass. Looking forward to seeing our die hard flyathletes at this event! Because this race is a fundraising race, this year we have decided to have a required fundraising minimum of $150. Money raised will go towards on-the-ground projects with a native trout focus. If you want to participate and this amount of fundraising is prohibitive, please send me an email with your rationale and we can try to work around it. Fishing Difficulty: MODERATE Running Difficulty: EASY

Big South Angling Survey
October 6 Through November 10 By Rocky Mountain Flycasters Our partners at the US Forest Service are looking for help documenting where brown trout appear in the Big South Fork of the Poudre River. This effort has Poudre Headwaters Project implications, as biologists need to know what other species exist in the lower reaches of the project area. Volunteers are needed to fish specific sections of the river, and to provide photos and map coordinates for all brown trout caught in those areas. Fishing on the Big South was recently reported to be very good, so even if volunteers don't document any brown trout, they'll likely still have a great time. As an incentive, we are offering prizes for volunteers participating between October 11 and November 10 for: The most brown trout caught and properly documented in one day in the area of interest (described below) The brown trout caught the greatest distance (upstream) from the Big South Trailhead on Highway 14 The prize for each category is a $100 gift certificate from St. Peter's Fly Shop. Pub & Dub Fly Tying Social Monthly on First Thursday 6:00 PM 9:00 PM Gilded Goat 3500 S College Ave #194 Fort Collins, CO 80525 This months Pub & Dub will be Thursday, November 2 at 6:00 PM in the loft area at the rear of the taproom at the Gilded Goat Brewery and Taproom, 3500 S. College Ave in Fort Collins. Come and join us for an evening of socialization, swapping fish stories from your summer and maybe even learning a new pattern. "Pub and Dub" is a free event hosted by the Rocky Mountain Flycasters TU Chapter for members and friends to meet, have a beverage and tie flies. Marty Staab will designate a "Fly of the Month", and the Chapter provides all tying materials (vises and tools as needed) along with video tying instructions on the big screen TV. Tyers of all abilities are welcome, and first time tyers will find themselves surrounded by others happy to assist. This Squirrel Tail Streamer is a nice, light "bucktail" you can throw easily with your 4-weight for those fall brook trout. It's got that classic look, and it's not only a handsome fly but it will really get a 13" brown trout excited. If you are throwing big streamers, this fly trailing a few feet behind your beast streamer will get you those shy fish that are curious but not inclined to fully commit!

You could be an overachiever and win both prizes!!
