Appreciation at end of year - FinsUp and 5-Stars

Blog by: Matt Snider 12/29/2022 (Return to blogs)
Two quick things in regard to appreciation before we wrap this year up.

Fins Up!
I mentioned earlier in the year that you can now "like" or "FinsUp" various additional content on FishExplorer in order to give some love or thanks back to the providers (this is in addition to the normal forum posts FinsUp.)

For instance, you can now click the FinsUp icon for photographs in the gallery, or a lake/river report, a blog, or a comment on a news article or blog.

Each year for a few years now, Cisco has graciously awarded prizes to recognize those members leading in the FinsUp category.

Take a bit of time before the final bell tolls in 2022 and go find some things you were thankful for and give them a "FinsUp."  Flip through some reports on a lake or river you fished and find some good reports and thank those contributors. Flip through all the photos, it's a fun exercise.

Soon we will tally the #s and announce the 2022 FinsUp winners.

Google Reviews
Google (and Yelp) reviews are super important to brick-and-mortar shops - like your local tackle or fly shop.  Too often we overlook or forget to give 5-star reviews to those places we love.  Let me tell you as a fellow brick-and-mortar business owner, it means the world to receive those votes of confidence.

Please take a little time soon to get on the Google Maps (or Yelp) app to find some of your favorite businesses and leave a 5-star review for them.

As for reviews that are below 5-star? Send a message to the business owner first before you submit a review. You can do so right there in the Google Maps (and Yelp) app.  Let them know why your review wouldn't be 5-star. At least give them the chance to respond.

[Edit: also, I don't mind if you post the names of businesses you've given 5-stars to below in comments if you want to]

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!
Here's to a great 2023 filled with lots of good times and fish.
