CTU Troutfest Monday, July 18, at Coors Field

Blog by: Matt Snider 7/16/2022
As a former baseball player and an avid fly fisher this caught my eye. It is up on our calendar and in the news section as well.  Scott Willoughby, former Outdoors Editor for The Denver Post, reached out with more info, so I thought I'd share it here too.  It sounds like it'll be a great time this Monday starting at 5pm.  The MLB is in all-star break so there is no game, but when else are you going to get a chance to cast a fly rod in a Major League Baseball stadium?

The event is free for all Boy/Girl Scouts in uniform free of charge, as well as Vets and active service members.

Press release is below.  Visit the CTU site for more info

Colorado Trout Unlimited invites area anglers (and anglers-in-training) to step up to the plate and join them at Coors Field for the first annual “Troutfest Colorado” – a familyfocused fly-fishing festival that’s sure to be a hit.

Scheduled from 5-9 p.m. on Monday, July 18, at Coors Field in Denver, Troutfest puts a Colorado spin on the all-American traditions of baseball, hot dogs and apple pie by adding flyfishing to the lineup. Rookies and All-Stars alike will benefit from fly-casting lessons complete with video analysis by casting instructors from Fly Fishers International (FFI) alongside dozens of sponsoring partners, including Colorado Parks and Wildlife, Trouts Fly Fishing (troutsflyfishing.com), Blue Quill Angler (bluequillangler.com), and Rare Waters (rarewaters.com), among others hosting vendor booths focused on fishing, conservation and outdoor recreation opportunities for all walks.

In addition to the latest gear, casting coaches, fly tying instruction for all levels and a healthy mix of activities for kids and families (“lawn trout” fishing, “build-a-bug” tying and more), the night at the ballpark includes food and drink along with the rare opportunity to tour the Colorado Rockies dugout among other Coors Field amenities. Parking in the A Lot closest to Coors Field (Gate B) is free for the evening. What’s more, entry to Troutfest is free for all military veterans and active military personnel.

Standard $25 admission includes access to all activities along with a ballpark-style meal and cash bar, while $75 VIP tickets upgrade attendees to a VIP seating area and premium meal as well as a pair of drink tickets. Youths ages 5-12 cost $10 and kids 4 and under are free.

Additionally, a silent auction will take place during the event and a limited supply of 100 raffle tickets will be sold for $50 each, with the winner receiving a multi-day fishing trip in the Flat Tops with Ripple Creek Lodge. While the drawing will occur at Troutfest, you need not be present to win.

Best of all, all proceeds from this unique fundraiser event will go toward Colorado Trout Unlimited’s conservation work focused on native trout restoration, youth education efforts and advocacy for the state’s cold-water resources. Representatives from several state chapters will also be on hand to discuss CTU’s work, membership opportunities and ways the public can participate in conservation projects.

Visit https://troutfestctu.givesmart.com to purchase tickets to the July 18 event as well as raffle tickets. Walk-up admission tickets will be available at Coors Field (Gate B, 22nd and Blake St.) but raffle ticket supplies are limited, so get yours today!
