LFK TV Special Episode: Thanksgiving Largemouth

Yesterday I was able to tag along while CPW Fishery Biologist and fellow FxR member Ben Swigle, and Assistant Fishery Biologist's Alex Wooding and Jason Duff relocated fish. The owners of the private body of water reached out to Ben telling him they'll be lowering the lake 15 FOW which puts the fish in a small pool with winter approaching and winter kill is a possibility. Without hesitation Ben and his crew jumped into action and have been relocating fish from this private body of water to public fisheries where bass are protected!

In this video you'll see fish in the tank on their sides after being shocked. At first I was concerned and tried to fight the urge to ask Ben if this was normal, but I couldn't resist. Ben calmly assured me these fish would all be fine it takes them a bit to recover after being shocked. Sure enough I watched each fish that we shocked today make a full recovery and then later in the day strongly swim away into public water.

I can't publish this video without telling you guys how impressed I was with how easy Ben, Alex, and Jason made today look. Launching a boat in a mud pit, making the entire electrofishing process look seamless, fixing a few issues on the boat on the fly like it was nothing, and then winching the boat back up out of the mud pit like it was just another day at the office. These guys bust their tails to improve fisheries for all of us to enjoy!

During the final segment of this episode the wind picked up, a guy started power washing a building, and a few cyclist's buzzed past us. I tried my best to roll with it and adapt on the fly like Ben, Alex, and Jason had been doing all day long. I hope you guys enjoy this episode getting a front row seat to a few of our favorite northern Colorado bass fisheries improving immensely overnight!

Awesome! I wish they would’ve done that with Harvey Gap Reservoir Pike! There were (are?) some true trophies in there!!!
