Shady Rest Staging Area Environmental Assessment And Draft Decision Released

Mammoth District Ranger Jon Regelbrugge has released the Environmental Assessment and draft Decision Notice for the Shady Rest Staging Area project. The project proposes to build an Over Snow Vehicle (OSV) and Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) staging area along the Sawmill Cutoff Road (#03S08) near the Town of Mammoth Lakes. The staging area would include parking facilities for approximately 25 vehicles, loading ramp and restroom facilities. The project documents, including maps and responses to prior comments are available online at www.fs.fed.us/nepa/fs-usda-pop.php/?project=38834 or can be requested at the Inyo National Forest Supervisors Office in Bishop or the Mammoth Welcome Center on Highway 203 in Mammoth Lakes.
A 45 day objection period begins with the publication of a Legal Notice in the Inyo Register (expected 12/21/2013). Objections to the decision will be accepted from those who have submitted related comments during scoping or the formal comment period.
