USFS press release
The Doublehead Ranger District of the Modoc National Forest is seeking comment on proposed projects to improve the distribution of rangeland cattle within the Tucker, Chandler and Doublehead pastures of the Tucker Allotment, and the Harvey Jones, Lone Pine and Red Lake pastures of the Carr Allotment. The proposed Tucker, Harvey Jones and Red Lake Well projects are located south of Clear Lake Reservoir.
The purpose of the projects is to provide permanent sources of water for livestock, wildlife and wild horses, facilitate improved livestock distribution and provide additional water sources necessary for fire suppression activities.
Written comments should be mailed to Mike Brod, Acting District Ranger Doublehead Ranger District, ATTN: Range Department, 49870 Hwy 139 Tulelake, CA 96134 Fax: 530-667-8609. Written or verbal comments can also be delivered between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the address listed above. Electronic comments must be submitted in a format such as an email message, plain text (.txt), rich text (.rtf), or Word (.doc) to: Commentsemail@example.com. Please put “Carr/Tucker Well Projects” in subject line. In cases where no identifiable name is attached to an electronic message, a verification of identity will be required.
The initial scoping letter for these projects was issued on January 20, 2012. After a review of public comments, a draft decision memo was prepared and sent out for further public comment in March, 2013. As a result of comments received, a decision has been made to prepare an environmental assessment to analyze the impacts of these projects.
If you submitted comments on these projects during the January, 2012 public scoping period and/or the March 2013 public comment period for the draft decision memo, your comments are already on file and no further action is necessary. If you did not previously comment, or have additional comments in response to this proposed action, please make your comments as specific as possible.
Submit comments no later than December 9, 2013. All comments become part of the public record and may be provided to interested parties who request them. Please direct questions about this project to Jason Brewer at 530-667-8613 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org
