Wishon Reservoir is located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains about 45 minutes above the town of Shaver Lake. The lake is surrounded by granite shores and forested hills, a beautiful setting for a well-stocked trout fishery. Camping is a huge draw here with its fairly private and shaded sites. Getting there:
Take Highway 168 from Fresno heading east and turn right onto Dinkey Creek Road out of Shaver Lake. Turn right on McKinley Grove Rd. and head to reservoir. Courtright Reservoir is about another 7 miles up the road past this turnoff.
From USFS: To Upper Kings Campground, take Hwy 168 east from Clovis towards Prather. Continue through Prather towards Shaver Lake. Just before you reach Shaver Lake turn right on the Dinkey Creek Road. Travel 11.7 miles east to the intersection of the Dinkey Creek Road and the McKinley Grove Road. Turn right and travel 17 miles north on the McKinley Grove Road to Wishon Reservoir. Before you get to the Reservoir you will see a right that forks off to the right (Upper Kings River), follow the road for 0.4 of mile to the fishing site at the base of the Dam then continue 0.1 miles more.
