Lake Chabot impounds San Leandro Creek in Alameda County. Built in late 1800’s was a primary source for water in the East Bay. Closed to recreation for 91 years, the reservoir was opened to limited recreation in the 1960s. Today the lake is used as an emergency water supply.
Driving from Castro Valley California, use Lake Chabot Rd. to gain access to Lake Chabot. From Hwy. 580 Fairmont Dr, Castro Valley Blvd, and Lake Chabot Rd headed east will give you fast access to the lake.
