Camp Far West’s 185 foot high dam was completed in 1963 it impounds both the Bear River and Rock Creek. Built primarily for flood control and irrigation, the reservoir also offers recreational opportunities. It was named for a gold rush camp located downstream from the dam site. Beale Air Force Base... Getting there:
Driving from Wheatland California, head northeast on Main Street turning right onto Camp Beale Highway (Spenceville Road). Make a right turn onto Camp Far West Road, near the reservoir stay left on Camp Far West Road. After passing Kapaka road (on left), take next right to Camp Far West Reservoir.
