CDFW wants to remind trout anglers that the March flooding and closure of the Central Region's Moccasin Creek Hatchery in Tuolumne County has limited the ability to stock many southern Central Valley and Sierra foothill waters with trout. The hatchery closure is a major loss to the department and the angling community. CDFW, in an effort to distribute trout across the Central Region, is prioritizing the most popular trout fishing destinations for stocking this summer, and the San Joaquin Hatchery near Fresno is helping to supply fish to some of the waters normally stocked by the Moccasin Creek Hatchery. Anglers making fishing plans should check CDFW's fish planting schedule to see the waters planted with trout.
