I have been looking at information on fishing the Russian River. I will be there from Colorado to visit my son, and to get in some fishing. I have looked for guides to maximize my experience. Not much to be found for Forestville, Santa Rosa, and Rohnert Park. I have seen info on state regs and some tips for fishing from shore. I would like to get into some steelhead and some salmon.
Dave C - if you are around, maybe we could get together. I woulld love to catch up with you if you would tollerate me and my spinning gear. We did get some fishing in here in CO this summer. Rio Grande, Blue Mesa, and Wolford brought us the most success.

Sorry about not responding sooner. I typically keep an eye on CA and love fishing the state. Wish I could join you. As to hooking up in CO I can't think of anything I'd like better. Looking forward to it.

Yesterday I stopped in at a Rohnert Park shop to get my fishing license. They told me that even with the recent rainy days, that the water flow reports were still too low in the Russian River and that fishing it was prohibited. I did get information from them on fishing for stripers off of San Rafael. I will do that on Friday. Today I will be around Santa Rosa with my son, and will see about throwing my line in at Ralphine res.. Yesterday was about hiking in the Redwood Forest, and that was beautiful. Then we drove to the coast which was beautiful, but too windy to fish.
I am back home in CO and wanted to give a shout out to Tommy the Striper King for a wonderful day fishing Stripers out of San Rafael. I caught 74 Striper and also a shout out to Chad La Chance who taught me a lot about casting a jig many years ago.
The water flow in the Russian River was too low for any fishing. I did try the pond on Sonoma State Univ. and a small lake in eastern Santa Rosa. In all the trip was awesome. The beer at Russina River Brewery was flowing just fine.
Tommy was amazing, and the time I spent with my son was amazing. I look forward to my next trip out to the area. This time I will take my husband as Tommy sent him a few pictures of my adventure while my husband was at work. LOL!
