After looking at all of the new members this past month that the Wyoming side has had I wondered how everyone heard about fishexplorer?
I found the Colorado site in 2008 when I "Googled" (YAHOO) "fishing in colorado". Look at if for a few minutes and decided to look at the 2nd site that came up. Didn't like how the 2nd one was set up compared to FxR. I started reading everything that sounded interesting that night and barely slept.
After I started posting to the forum I decided it was worth a monthly fee for more info so I became a plus member.
Shortly after I decided I wanted to try and find a fishing buddy I posted that I wanted to go to John Martin and needed someone to go with. The guy that replied rolled up to my house a few days later after hashing out plans and telling our significant others we would be fine and we went and fished John Martin and had a great weekend.
This new fishing buddy was the best man in my wedding a few years later and is now my best friend. He still sucks at fishing but that's OK.
A couple years ago my wife excepted a sign language interpreter job in Green River WY. After we moved up here they Wyoming state editor moved to Florida and I was asked to take over. I was hesitant at first because I hated (it still scares me) writing. But after a few conversations with Matt and Dave I decided I'd give it a go.
I still feel like the site is one of the best resources out there. It's still fun and growing so I'm still all in!
So, how did you find FxR? Do you have any questions about how to use the site?

I did a Google search in January a few years ago asking if there was open water at Cherry Creek. One of the first things that popped up was FXR. I explored the site and wanted more so I became a member. I still wanted more and I became a plus member. I talked to long time skippers like like Ajax and Sylvan and I became a skipper. Now I skipper 8 lakes and my son skippers 1.
I love the site and all my best friends I have met on FXR. I would be willing to be more involved, Tom set me up to edit my lake pages and that's cool. Just wish I could get the bluegill and bass off of Summit Lake.
Goosehunter82. I grew up fishing salmon on the rivers of Washington state in the fall. It took him a couple years to convince me that Colorado fishing wasn't a waste of time, but I've since acquired the sickness in a way I never had before.
Dale, Great Idea!! I found FxR back in late 2007 online. I officially joined on 24 October 2007. Back then, it was more specific to the northern Colorado area. Having lived in Fort Collins for about 8 years by then, I thought it was a great idea to be able share information more locally. Now I'm an old lurker. :) FS
every time I did a search for anything fishing related, FxR kept popping up. SO finally took a look at the site and what it's all about and signed up.

FlyzXtrem e is a buddy of mine who would always tell me about all of the good info here on the site. After trolling for about 6 months I signed up and have been around ever since.
I meet somebody from FXR at the Aurora res. trout turnny back in 2014 . .he had a table set up at the area where they gave away the prizes.
I was searching for different places to fish, especially the front range rivers and streams. I found a few sites, a lot of them had message boards, some had reports and links.
FX had all that and a bit more. Better organization, and, most importantly of all, an awesome and highly active user base. Look at a lot of the other sites you can post and not get a reply for weeks.
Here, Ive had replies within minutes.
So really, it was a no-brainer.
2011 is when I officially signed up. I'd been looking for a long time for somewhere I could get regular conditions on my favorite bodies of water and I kept seeing posts from FxR. Lurked for awhile and finally decided I could not just read what others were posting but that I could contribute as well. In 2012 I was in a bad accident and was unable to move, let alone fish for 6 months so I lived vicariously through the posts and pics from members here. When i was finally able to fish again I started with basic updates on waters I frequented, then decided I'd become a skipper for one of my favorite spots. Have been on the + side for almost 5 years now and have met some of the very best people I know through Fish Explorer!
