I love this time of year! I think most people do, unless you have bad allergies. Spring brings warmth, green and fishing! For me, this spring is special.
For those of you that have been members of FishExplorer for more then 2 years, you remember a weekly podcast from me. For almost two years, I produced a weekly podcast every Thursday. Sometimes, we talked about local fishing. Other times, we interviewed great fisherman including Larry Dahlberg, Chad LeChance, Dave Coulson among others. I talked about topics of personal interest. Since I stopped producing the podcast in May of 2011, I have been asked, “What happened to the podcast?” and “Why don’t you do it anymore?”
Well, I got burned out. What seems to the novice as relatively simple is really quite time intensive. Each week, I would need to set up a guest, record the phone call, edit the show, upload it and find pictures for it. It took 4 hours a week out of my very busy life. I do have 2 energetic children, and a full time real estate career. Well, you get the picture.
Well, after a long break, I am starting over! In the next couple of weeks, I will work on producing a whole new podcast! It won’t occur weekly, rather, it will feel more like a blog. (We all know that I speak better then I write.) You should expect a new podcast every few weeks. For this to happen, I need your help!
1. I need someone to help me with intro and exit music! If you have a band or know someone who can build me some music, I would love it. I can’t pay, but I can give you a ton of exposure. This may be in vain, but I love Terry Wickstrom’s and Roland Martin’s theme songs. “Just sayin” ?
2. I need suggestions of what we should talk about. Now that FishExplorer has expanded to Florida, Texas and California, I need to work on shows that appeal to everybody.
3. I want to interview FishExplorer.com members. You are the best fisherman around, and you need to share your tips. You don’t have to share your spots!
In closing, the podcast is a rebirth for me. I spent the last three years working my butt off, and now I am back to my labor of love, fishing and talking about fishing.
Two quick side notes:
I am going to fish The Green River at Flaming Gorge in the next couple of weeks with a group of guys who have been going for 16 years. I went for ten of those years but haven’t been back for six. Jason Dembeck, the leader, is the guy who taught me how to fish. It is an honor to rejoin them. Bring on the Blue Wings in full force!
Also, I am competing in the Rocky Mountain Regional event for Fly Fishing Team USA. The competition occurs the first week of May in Basalt. I have been out of the competition scene for four years. I am excited to rekindle my competitive juices. I hope my fishing improves, as well. Thanks to the guys putting on the event.
I will keep you updated on these trips in my first couple of podcasts.
Tim now lives in Denver after ten years of being a fly fishing guide and shop manager in Vail. Tim has become an urban fisherman focusing on fishing within an hour of Denver. He uses his fly rod to fish for anything he has time for and he fishes often. You can follow him on Twitter @TimFishmanEmery or like him on Facebook.
Tim's day job is a Real Estate agent and property manager in the Denver area. Rumor has it, he will buy you a fly rod if you buy or sell a house with him!

This old geezer just has to ask - what's a pod cast? Sounds kind of like what mesquite trees do :-)
