Lots of Smallies - A Farewell to Jumbo - Aerial Video

We took one last trip out to Jumbo Reservoir, a final good bye you can say before the lake drains. Still at 2feet of water. Plenty of Smallmouth and Bluegill to catch and salvage. Use a sinker with a hook and worm to catch bluegill and for smallies using any swimbait in white or green or twister tail should do the trick.
Here is a video of the Smallmouth catching and some aerial shots of the lake that will give you a good idea of how much water is left. [log in for link]

Was there also, indeed a sad sight. What an out standing fishery in the past decade. There are plenty of big gills if anyone is interested in harvesting them before it gets to low, easy pickings to. Great time to take the little ones out to catch some.
Ass Bass, I kept a good amount and released a few, i just feel too guilty, I love bass, never eaten it but hear it's good.
Fishmohr, the bank is hard, you won't sink your foot or anything, the storm may have softened it up a bit but still good, where you would be fishing is pretty rocky, if you look at the video and where I'm at its all rock.
Most bluegills are 7 to 9 inches we made a great bluegill fish taco meal.

Oh man this should make Sterling very fun to fish next year, it has made a great come back from the 2012 days to where it is now, with more fish in there it'll pick up in quality. Here is hoping to a wet 2021.
Rog, for sure Wyoming and Nebraska are pretty good. With much less people and quality fish. I wish I could work remotely I'd move out in a heartbeat. I bet in Nebraska they were saying the same thing when you always see so many Nebraska license plates. :D
I duck hunt Annex and Redlion over the past weekend and drove by. The inlet is barely running and there hasn't been any significant change since they started to drain it. I mean NSR's inlet has been running for weeks and it still looks the same. Pray for a wet winter.
cmhef, the lake was not busy with people at all when i went out there and according to some buddies that went other times. Only thing that you could catch was bluegill and smallmouth bass. It's probably not busy now either.
Killerfihser, thanks for the update bud. You are the man.
