Observed a retired couple attempting to load their pontoon boat at Rob Roy this past weekend. Fortunately, a couple of my family members and I were able to assist them with getting the boat lined up and loaded, but it did require wading into 59 degree water. The boat owner mentioned there had been a dock at the boat ramp a few years ago, and he and his wife were able to get their boat loaded with just the two of them when the dock was in place. However, since the dock had been removed, they were hesitant to attempt launching their boat for this exact reason... they were afraid they may not be able to get it on the trailer. I'm assuming Game and Fish would be the group to ask about the status of the dock? Does anyone have any other recommendations of whom to talk to, to get the dock installed next season?

I actually fished Rob Roy the day the fire kicked up (July 3rd, I believe), and there wasn't a dock that day, either. The gentleman we helped with loading his boat said he has a cabin up there, and mentioned there used to be a nice dock that he and his wife could use to load/unload their boat themselves, but he said they took it out prior to the lake freezing three or four years ago, and never put it back the following spring. He said this was their first attempt without the dock, and they were definitely having a difficult time. It's a shame that a retired couple with a place nearby can't take their boat out on that beautiful lake because they're scared they won't be able to trailer it...
