I have been to two lakes in this region. Alan Henry and Meredith. Both for club outings and several years ago. Meredith is a big lake with a mix of fishing. At the time they had a slot limit, so under size bass were plentyfull, but there were a few 6 lb. bass also. The winner of one of the tourneys had two just over 6.
The cool thing about Meredith is that I can say I been to Fritch, TX, home of Ron White!

I was at Lake Meredith the second week of Feb for work. There is only a foot of water on the very bottom gate of the intake tower. There is next to no water in the lake. Bureau of Reclamation biologists are worried about a big die off of fish this winter unless there is a big inflow of water.
Best lake in Texas for Walleye and the populaton is maintaned by natural reproduction. Produced the current State Record Smallmouth of 7.93 pounds in 1998. Has a small population of Yellow Perch. As stated above lake is extremely low and many boat ramps have been temporarily closed
according to my boy who lives in Dumas, it's about 3 more hours down the road past Lamar, CO...
I'm thinking of going out there this spring, since I'm going to say what's up to him on the way to OK. maybe I'll hit up meredith.. he's showed me pics of big arsed walleyes.
