To say fly fishing is a passion for Dave is an understatement, he lives by the adage, “fly fishing isn’t a matter of life or death, it’s much more important than that.” Simply, if it’s a fish, then Dave’s willing to chase it on a fly. This includes making two or three trips a year out of state to places like Alaska, Canada, East and West Coasts to fly fish for salmon, northern pike and salt water species, such as redfish. The rest of the time Dave spends his time plying Colorado waters with a fly rod for everything the state has to offer such as bass, perch, crappie, bluegill, walleye, catfish, pike and yes even trout with a fly.

It's been asked why Fish Explorer doesn't take a stand on various fishing releated issues. It's simple, there is no "correct" stand to be taken, and we leave it to each individual to take their own position.

Fishing and catching aren't necessarily the same thing. So while unsettled or bad weather can make for unpleasant fishing, the catching often makes up for it.

I'm not sure how many words a picture is worth, but there's no doubt it conveys a lot of meaning. The only real question is what does my picture say and it that the message I want?

Depending on where and what you fish for, the choice of bait can vary greatly, with possibly one exception, crawfish. If there was ever a universal lure, crawfish patterns would be it.

Conditions reports are one of the features that attracted me to Fish Explorer in the beginning. I love the idea of fishermen keeping their fellow anglers updated on lake conditions.

Every since I became Colorado's State Editor it has been my goal to have a stronger Western Slope presence on the site. Today we're one step closer to achieving that with the addition of Robby Richarson as a Colorado Field Editor.
