To say fly fishing is a passion for Dave is an understatement, he lives by the adage, “fly fishing isn’t a matter of life or death, it’s much more important than that.” Simply, if it’s a fish, then Dave’s willing to chase it on a fly. This includes making two or three trips a year out of state to places like Alaska, Canada, East and West Coasts to fly fish for salmon, northern pike and salt water species, such as redfish. The rest of the time Dave spends his time plying Colorado waters with a fly rod for everything the state has to offer such as bass, perch, crappie, bluegill, walleye, catfish, pike and yes even trout with a fly.
My first gray ghost of the surf  12/28/2010
Corbina are often referred to as the gray ghost of the surf. Their known for feeding extremely shallow, being wary and elusive. Once hooked however they give a very memorable battle that I've now experienced, twice.

Fly fishing the surf is both frustrating and rewarding. This week I have the privilege of spend over a week shore side and will likely get a few hours a day fishing the surf and maybe even and bit of kayak fishing, also.

One pattern, many species, clousers fit the bill  12/12/2010
"What are you using?" is often the first question to a successful fisher. My answer, a clouser. A better question would be to ask me how are you fishing that clouser. But for those who've asked here's one of my clousers.
Do Fish Feel Pain?  12/9/2010
I don't know the answer, but there are those who profess to. A recent book suggests they do. Right or wrong, should there become widespread acceptance of the view fish feel pain could have a serious impact on today's fishing practices.
