Crystal Beach Texas Fishing Advice

by: Lloyd Tackitt 2/25/2017

Crystal Beach Texas

In early May I'll spend a weekend at a beach house on Crystal Beach. I plan to take my 8 wt and whatever flys might be of interest to the local fish. I have time to get flys, if there are any suggestions.

Any suggestion on what to fish for, how to fish for them, and what to use would be most welcome. It is a family vacation so I won't do more than surf fish right there - don't want to go there to be with family and then take off for better fishing. Unl...ess there's some place real close, like walking distance.

Next time we go though I will be willing to drive a bit to get to better spots - if there are any of interest.

Thank you in advance for any advice. And please remember, I've not fished salt water with a fly rod ever and haven't fished salt water in over 20 years.

I'd go to a local tackle shop there. Might cost a bit more but the advice could be priceless!

Local bait shops are treasure troves! Looks like I'll be in walking distance of a place called Rollover Pass.

Lloyd, a renowned writer I knew, named Ed Snyder, spent a lot of time there, and can hook you up. Here is a link to some of his stuff http://www.crystalbeachlocalnews.com/category/rollover-fishing-report/
