How Much I Hate Litter
by: Lloyd Tackitt 6/17/2014
I'm lucky that I live on a clean river. But some jerk left litter the other day. Call me mean spirited but I believe that people who are too lazy to take their trash home with them are scum. Low life, not worth living, waste of life cretinous bottom sucking scum.
If they can carry it in full of beer then they can carry it out full of air. If they can tote a full plastic water bottle in with them then they can damn sure carry an empty water bottle out with them. Tossing waste containers that were deliberately carried in is as pitiful as as a human gets.
What kind of rationalization does a person have to dream up to leave their trash in a river, or a lake, or a pond, or any place that isn't actually made to contain waste. What lack of self-esteem causes that to happen. What excuse can someone come up with that makes them think it leaves their soul unmarked.
How do these people look at themselves in a mirror and not see the POS that is reflected back at them? What self created blinders do they have? Jerks, each and everyone of them.
I truly hope some littering low life POS scum reads this and gets angry with me. I'd love to hear their pitiful cries for understanding. Fat chance though, those types cower in the darkness of their hidden self-loathing and never expose themselves for what they are. I believe there has to be a special place below hell for these people.

Sometime you'll have to let us know how you really feel!!! I know what taught me to never litter was two jobs. First, a summer employee of the Forest Service while in college. Cleaning up campgrounds and other areas was enough for me. Second, was supervising custodial opperations. Trust once you've made part of your living cleaning up after others, you'll never leave a mess yourself, at least I don't.

Who would do such a thing?
People who do not like our country, and don't care about our country.

The part the bothers me.. Is that they were out enjoying that place when they trashed it. It may even be their favorite fishing spot, and they are willing to turn it into a dump just so they don't have to carry a beer can or empty worm container. I just can't quite rationalize it.

Lloyd these people enjoy you coming behind them and picking up their trash. This thread is only going to encourage them to do it more.
The fine for littering can be over a thousand dollars per violation. My best suggestion is to video tape the violations, turn them in, and to roll that money back into the Parks and Wildlife fund. So instead of costs going up at lakes and rivers for clean up costs after these jack wagons they might just go down. As an added incentive it needs to be recommended to DOW that if an angler is ticketed for littering while in the act of fishing he will lose points off his fishing license.
We live in a world of technology and it is getting a lot easier to catch violators. Many boaters and shore anglers now have video recording devices recording while they fish. These are public places so recordings are legal.
My two cents worth.

What you are talking about is "learned behavior" just as with everything else we do,someone taught that person to be a litterbug(father to son, grandfather to father . .ect, ect) DV is the same way . . .grandfather does it to grandmom, father does it to mom,son grows up seeing it. . .he thinks its normal and it goes on & on . . . .

Like my father in law always said, "When you leave, leave only footprints."

I get a picture in my head of LT seeing the offending debris and racing back to publish this post before he could settle down a even one bit. I agree with the sentiment and also wish there were more enforcement of the existing laws.
