Lake Skipper: Kokehuntr I was born and raised in North Florida and started fishing about the same time I could walk. Biography: I was born and raised in North Florida and started fishing about the same time I could walk. My family owned property in both Missouri and Arkansas, so along with the famous Bass fishing in Florida, I did get a chance to grow up catching fish in the Ozark's to include Bull Shoals Lake and Table Rock, along with just about every farm pond I could get access too. During my high school years I had a job working at Zeta Bait making plastic fishing worms and was a member of the North Florida Bass master tournament trail. I joined the Air Force in 1987 and that gave me the chance to fish all around the world. My longest tour was in Alaska where I found a true passion for trout and salmon fishing. I spent nine years fishing every river and lake in Alaska catching some world class rainbow trout and salmon of every species. Most of my fishing is done with a fly-rod and I have been tying my own flies for about 20 years, but I love to catch fish, so I have no problem throwing on a worm and marshmallow or any bait when the time is right. I traditionally practice catch and release, but I love to eat fish, so I will keep some trout and salmon once in a while for dinner. I also love to chase pan-fish, so blue-gills and crappie will see the frying pan every chance I get, along with any catfish. I retired from the Air Force in October of 2008, so Colorado is my new home. I have spent the last eight years fishing many of the lakes and rivers in this great state. I have been a member of some local bass clubs and fished two years on the team circuit. My true passion is Kokanee salmon since I have found them to be the best eating fish for me and the family. I spend most of my time fishing for the salmon, especially during the winter months, when I find them most active. Another one of my true passions is getting kids involved in the outdoors, especially fishing. I have two daughters that I take fishing every chance I get, along with any friends or neighbors that are willing to go along. I feel that it is our obligation to introduce kids to the outdoors and fishing, since the future depends on young anglers taking an interest and continuing on the legacy. The lakes that I fish most of the time include Taylor, Eleven mile, Spinney, Antero, and Pueblo. I have met some of the nicest and good fisherman in this state and I always have time to sit down and chat about current conditions and a fish tale or two.
