The 16th Annual National Public Lands Day (NPLD), the nation's largest hands-on volunteer effort to improve and enhance the nation's public lands, will be held on Saturday, Sept. 26. The event began in 1994 with three federal agencies and 700 volunteers. This year, an estimated 130,000 volunteers will lend a hand on more than 2,000 projects across the nation.
"There are many ways to show support and help care for public lands on NPLD," said Dean Winstanley, director of Colorado State Parks. "The state parks are looking for volunteers to help build trails and bridges, plant trees and plants, and remove trash and invasive plants. It's a great way to recognize the important role that public lands play in outdoor recreation."
