Georgetown Lake is only one of many attractions around Georgetown, which include a restored narrow gage railroad line, museums, and wildlife viewing, especially for the Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep that frequate the area. Where it not for the close proximity to the town and interstate, one could easily imagine theirself visiting a remote high country water.

The reservoir, while not know as a trophy class water, nonetheless produces good numbers of rainbows, browns, and an occasional brook trout, thanks in part to frequent stocking by Colorado Divison of Wildlife. Good fishing, coupled with easy access and a chance to see Bighorn Sheep, help explain the popularity of this fishery, not only in the summer, but throughout the winter as well.

Getting there: From Denver. Take Interstate 70 to Georgetown, take exit 228, toward Georgetown, turning right at the stop sign to the lake.
Fees: None.
Boating: Non Motorized Only. No sailboats in excess of 16 feet in length.
Ice Fishing: Ice fishing allowed
