Willow Creek Reservoir, Granby Colorado - A popular lake with a nice campground, a bit more off the beaten path than its sister lakes to the east. Species in Willow Creek Reservoir: Brown Trout, Cutthroat Trout, Kokanee, Rainbow Trout, Sucker
Willow Creek Reservoir is a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of its sister lakes to the northeast. A small shaded campground on the south side provides a nice setting for quiet camping. The lake is wakeless only speeds for motorboats and is conducive to small boats such as canoes and float tubes. The kokanee fishing is good although none have been stocked since 1989. The current population which consists of about three year-classes is naturally reproducing. These fish are not as big as some of the other lakes in the area, with 12-14 inch fish being common. There is a great population of catchable rainbow trout - about 20,000 are stocked annually - and some large holdovers. The lake holds potential for some large brown trout also, with some mid-20-inch fish appearing in samples taken July 2008. And although crayfish populations are not great in this lake, the big brown trout were filled with them. With good shore access along the south side, Willow Creek Reservoir is a great place for families, even though the facilities are limited.
