Stearns Lake, Broomfield Colorado - Stearns lake is located within the Carolyn Holmberg Preserve at Rock Creek Farm north of Broomfield at the intersection of US Highway 287 and Dillon Road. Visitors can enjoy Fishing, a multi-use trail, and a picnic area.
Stearns Lake, located within the Carolyn Holmberg Preserve at Rock Creek Farm north of Broomfield is limited to bank fishing. It's known for its tiger muskie and largemouth bass. Of special interest to some is the large population of grass carp, some in the 20lb. Range. The trail starting at the parking lot heads out towards the south side of the lake. There the trail leaves the lake at the eastern corner and travels to the southeast. The north shore and some of the west shore is considered environmentally sensitive and has no public access.
Rock Creek Farm, purchased in 1980, offers a lot more than fishing at Stearns. The area is preserved and maintained as an active producing farm and is a designated cultural landscape under the Boulder County landmark program. In addition to typical crops, the leasing farmers grow pumpkins for the annual U-PICK-EM Great Pumpkin Patch. This farm is a beautiful island of peace and tranquility that is a wonderful place to play with the kids, relax, smell the fresh air and marvel at the wonders of nature and the bountiful harvest.
