Daigre is yet another stocked catchable rainbow trout fishery. It suffers as a successful reproduction lake due to numbers of suckers in the environment. Tiger muskie have been stocked in Diagre, and time will tell if their predation on suckers will have a positive effect for the trout. Although most of the people fishing on Daigre (pronounced "Day-ger" for those of you like us that pronounce it with a Spanish flare) catch smaller stocked trout, there are a good number of holdover rainbows and browns that can exceed average size. In addition to this, you will find a good number of smallmouth inhabiting the lake.Largemouth bass were stocked in very small numbers in 2005, no word on what their status is at this point.
Wahatoya Lake is also a popular fishery for the folks visiting La Veta, and shares quite a bit of the same characteristics and makeup as Daigre. Expect catchable rainbows, some larger browns, some smallmouth and some tiger muskie.
