Wellington #4 is a small lake in close proximity to Douglas Reservoir. You can drive right up to the lake's edge which makes for more comfortable fishing in the colder season. The trout in this lake are decent sized and the banks are mostly free of obstruction for walking. The west shore provides good trout action but is tree-lined so may make casting a fly a bit more difficult. Water levels in Wellington #4 come down quickly in the season due to irrigation demands. Ice typically comes off lake in early April depending on weather conditions and the lake fills up when runoff water starts flowing in the canals.
Getting there: From I-25 take the Wellington exit or CO 1. Go west on CO 1 thru Wellingto to road 9. Go north on 9 to road 64. Go west on 64 to 11. Go north on 11 to the lake on your right. Fees: Habitat stamp (purchased with fishing license) is required. Boating: Wakeless. Boating is wakeless speed only. No developed ramps exist however. Ice Fishing: Ice fishing allowed
