Maintained as a natural area, recreational opportunities at Quincy Reservoir are not as diverse as other waters in the Metro area. There is a 3.5 mile perimeter loop trail that offers excellent bird watching opportunities. Usage of the trail is limited to foot traffic and dogs are not permitted. Other facilities include hand-launch boat ramp picnic tables, fishing dock and boat rentals. As only electric motors or hand propelled craft (including float tubes) are permitted, this is an excellent area for kayaks and canoes. Note that sailing is not allowed and that waders MUST be worn to enter the water at Quincy Reservoir.
Quincy Reservoir is well-known among area anglers for several species of fish, including tiger muskie and bass. The bass fishing has steadily improved and the lake is now known as a trophy bass fishery. This popular fishery sees the greatest use in the summer, as it is closed November through February. Trout are a popular quarry and are stocked on a regular basis. Fishers can also expect to encounter good numbers of yellow perch. The tiger muskie population has diminished over recent years and it is hoped CDOW will resume stocking these magnificent fish.
