Green Mountain Reservoir along the Blue River is a popular destination in central Colorado for many boaters. Like many lakes in the state, Green Mountain can fluctuate frequently so be sure to check the level before setting out. Both rainbow and brown trout can be caught in the lake and kokanee is another popular sport fish on the lake. If you need a change a pace the Blue River on both the south and north end of the reservoir provides great river fishing throughout the year.

Getting there: From I-70 at Dillon/Silverthorne go north on CO 9 for 16 miles.
Fees: $6 Daily Fee for boat launch and parking at McDonald Flats. Various camping fees around lake.
Boating: All Boats Allowed. No restrictions.

Boat inspections began Memorial Day weekend and will continue through September (weather
pending) at both the McDonald Flats and Heeney Marina ramps. Inspections are available from
6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m., 7 days a week. Boats will not be allowed to launch after 9:00 p.m. and all
ramps are closed to nighttime use. Overnight beaching is allowed for campers staying onsite
overnight. For more information, contact the Heeney Marina.
