Flatiron has fishing from shore for trout. No boats, including belly boats, are allowed on the lake. It is well stocked with trout throughout the year. If you are looking to just get away or want to take a little one fishing this is a good spot. Flatiron is a popular place with camping right along the shore of the lake. Sheltered from the high winds that are frequent in Colorado, Flatiron has great views of city of Loveland to the east and the mountains around the southern and western shores. On many occasions traveling by Flatiron, we have passed numerous deer and elk grazing along the road.

Getting there: From Loveland take US 34 through the city of Loveland.
Watch for the 'Carter Lake' road sign just past mile marker #85. Turn left (south) onto County Road 29 and continue for 2 miles.
Turn right (west) onto County Road 18E and continue another 2 1/2 miles.
