Hike in from the parking lots at Lower Big Creek or land your boat at the southern shore of Lower Big Creek Lake and walk from there to this pristine high mountain lake. The upper lake is well known for providing great fly fishing for trout and well worth the hike in. If you get tired of the crowds on Lower Big Creek, the upper lake can provide more solitude and great small-lake trout action.
Getting there: From Walden go north 9 miles to Cowdrey. West on CR 6W for 18 miles to Pearl. Take FS Road 600 for 6 miles, following signs to Big Creek Lakes campground. You cannot drive to the Big Creek upper lake directly.
Fees: No fee. Boating: Non Motorized Hand-Launch. If you can carry your boat from the lower lake by all means go ahead. Ice Fishing: Permitted
