I cannot wait for the lakes to freeze up. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas....well, worse actually. I thought I'd post some pictures from last season to help fuel everyone else's excitement. A little over a month away, I'm feeling a good year!! Let's see more pictures of last year too, I love checking out all the good fish people caught. This is the braggin board for now, until we can create a new one with even bigger fish from this upcoming year.
Here are a couple I caught at the tourney last year,I know some of you guys dont like fish in the kitchen pics but if youve ever fished the Colorado classic you know theres no other option. Also the 2nd one is from Antero.
JED, after seeing that pic I was wondering if anyone knows what happened to deadhead dave?
1st one is proof of how excited i am for the ice. I had watched the weather in the mountains for about 2 weeks and thought it would have made some ice. I was right but a lil' bit wrong. The ice wasn't the safest i've been on 1 hole would be 3" the next would be 1 1/2" to 2". The comfort for me was that there was a high of 23 that day.
2nd is a picture of my girlfriend's 1st cutthroat.
3rd is a pic of one of my larger trout of the year.
Yes, i am keeping my eye on the weather. Unfortunately the places i want to fish have been rather warm thus far.

Not to be dumb, I'm just not new to ice fishing, but certainly not expert by any means at all. When we ice fish, our hole isn't too big, course for the fish we were catching it was big enough. How the heck do you all get monsters like that outta the holes? Gee whiz!!!!!
Also, can you just use an old tent with a hole in the bottom as a wind break when fishing out there?

hello show me the fish guy. I fish through an 8" hole almost always. Don't let folks tell you that a big fish can't come up through most holes. They almost always can. A tent with a hole in it. Sounds like a fun project. I still don't use a shelter here in Co., the winter is just to week. The wind has been my biggest enemy, and maybe if I had shelter those days would not be so bad. You do sacrifice mobility though and that is often key to catching big fish.
I'm getting fired up! Here is a bow I caught feb. of 09 at Eleven Mile. This fish was 25 inches 8lbs. Shooting for ten plus pounds this year!!! Good luck to all this year.

Thanks for the info Oscar! I agree about the mild winters here! It's the wind that gets me for sure! Figure I have an old un-used small tent and might be worth putting a hole in the bottom just to get outta the darn wind! Never dawned on me about lack of mobility though!
highalttrout - you would be right...caught a 20 inch brown to go along with this 24 incher...and as many perch as you could handle...one of my favorite days fishin
