Cabela's press release
San Antonio, Texas (November 20, 2012) - Cabela's, The World's Foremost Outfitter, has expanded their sponsorship of the Association of Collegiate Anglers (ACA) to include the Collegiate Bass Fishing Series. Now the title sponsor of the series, the Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Series will consist of the Cabela's Collegiate Big Bass Bash, the Collegiate Bass Fishing Open, and the season-ending BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Championship, which is the largest single college fishing event in the nation.
"Cabela's and BoatUS have been behind our series and collegiate bass fishing since its inception in 2006. Their involvement and support of this initiative have allowed us to continually enhance our programs and offerings to collegiate anglers," said Wade Middleton, President of CarecoTV and Co-founder of the ACA. "We are honored to have their continued support and this collaboration between Cabela's, BoatUS, and the ACA will allow us to continue to raise the bar for collegiate bass fishing events and opportunities."
The 2013 Cabela's Collegiate Bass Fishing Series presented by BoatUS will feature three nationally televised events on some of the nation's top fisheries. The 2013 schedule is as follows:
Cabela's Collegiate Big Bass Bash - March 21-23
Table Rock Lake - Branson, Missouri
Collegiate Bass Fishing Open - April 18-20
Kentucky Lake - Paris, Tennessee
BoatUS Collegiate Bass Championship - May 23-25
Pickwick Lake - Florence, Alabama
"Cabela's continues to support the Collegiate Bass Fishing Series because it's a first-class event showcasing young sportsmen and women who share our enthusiasm for the great outdoors," said Scott Williams, Cabela's Chief Marketing Officer. "The fishing competitors represent an up-and-coming generation of outdoor enthusiasts and we are proud to support them."
Chris Edmonston, President of the BoatUS Foundation, added, "We're proud to be a founding partner in the Association of Collegiate Anglers along with Cabela's. What started as a little collegiate fishing event in Texas several years ago has grown into a series of premier collegiate fishing events thanks in large part to the number of partnerships that have developed over the years. Cabela's expanded commitment to collegiate anglers everywhere really solidifies everyone's investment into this important youth program. We look forward to the future and the opportunities that lie ahead for the students."
