The perch and in particular the yellow perch is found in many lakes in the region. They may not be sought after by many fisherman but because of the taste on the dinner table, anglers target them on occasion when they are easy to catch. Perch are not the hardest fighting fish by any means but when you have located them and their biting you can reach your limit very quickly.

From the Colorado DOW: Another long ago introduced species, the yellow perch may be Colorado’s most abundant game fish and one of the most table worthy. Yellow perch have two separate dorsal fins with large vertical dark stripes on their yellowish sides. These fish can be found in large schools and are caught by using bait or small spinners. Yellow perch are usually less than one pound, but can be found over two pounds in some waters.
