Arkansas Headwaters Parks Pass Fees Change
SALIDA, Colo. Effective on Jan.1, 2007, Arkansas Headwaters Recreation Area (AHRA) is implementing a new State Parks pass fee structure. For visitors entering AHRA fee sites in a vehicle, a $5 daily vehicle pass is now required instead of the daily individual pass, except for those motor vehicles with a valid annual parks pass. This vehicle pass is valid for all occupants of the vehicle. For visitors entering AHRA fee sites in a manner other than a vehicle (boat, bicycle, on foot, etc.), a $3 daily individual pass is required for any person age sixteen or older. Also effective Jan. 1, Colorado State Parks camping fees increased statewide. Camping permits at AHRA are $14.00 per campsite per night.
The AHRA daily individual or daily vehicle pass is good for the entire day of purchase at all AHRA recreation sites, as well as at any of the other 40 Colorado State Parks.
Park Manager Robert White states it will take AHRA approximately a month to convert all AHRA self-service stations to the new fee information for camping permits and daily individual and vehicle passes. While AHRA is in this fee transition period, visitors should follow the fee schedule posted on the self-service fee sign at the site they are entering.
Visitors to AHRA are encouraged to purchase an annual park pass. The 2007 annual pass is $55, allowing admission into 41 state parks throughout Colorado. Annual, Aspen Leaf and daily vehicle and individual passes are available at the AHRA Visitor Center located at 307 W. Sackett Ave. in Salida. AHRA Visitor Center hours are 8 a.m.5 p.m., MondayFriday. For more information, call AHRA at 719-539-7289.
