North Park Fishing/Conditions Report 4/19/09
4/20/2009
Credit:
Bill Wilcox Lake John Resort
Well, here's the latest. Things are happening fast and will continue changing at a rapid pace, especially with the warmer weather expected this week. Lake John now has some fishable open water. The north point, west point and both boat ramps have at least enough open water to catch fish. Soon, the ice flows will be floating around, and accessibility will be dependent upon wind direction. Also, on a cold still night, expect skim ice to form, leaving early morning fishing difficult at best. Lake John has had one of the best winter fishing seasons in recent years, particularly for big fish, and I expect that to continue throughout the summer. An hour ago, I landed a 7 pounder with my fly rod!

Over at the Delaney's, East Lake is completely open, North is one third open along the west shore, and South is fishable on the north and south ends. All three have enough open water for PWC's and East will accept boats. Cowdrey Lake is completely open. Stay tuned.
