Lake John Fishing Report 4/1/12
Lake John Resort
Well, it is April Fools Day but this is no joke: Lake John, Cowdrey Lake and all three Delaney Butte Lakes are wide open and completely ice free. Even though the docks are not in yet, fishermen are launching everything from personal watercraft to float boats and rafts to tri-hulls. The catching has been close to phenomenal on all lakes with some true monsters being landed. Although Lake John had very few people over the past week, (the ice actually went out during the wind-storm on Monday, March 26th), everyone seems to be getting their share of fish. Of course they're not all lunkers yet, but since the reclamation last summer, they have added a little of all three — length, girth and attitude. I have also heard that Seymour Lake is open, as well as the road to Big Creek, however, I do not know how the fishing is on either, nor if the ice is even off of B. C.
I just came back from a ride around Lake John and though we haven't had very many people here, or even come close to really beginning the season yet, the trash is already an eyesore. A lot of the fire rings are full of cans and bottles that won't burn, and plastic bags and litter line the shore. Now, I know that things always look the worst in the spring when the snow and ice melts, but most of this is fresh. Come on people, please pack it out!! I'll tell you what - if you bag it and tie it up, and then let me know you just can't find any room in your vehicle for it, I'll put it in our dumpster. And I'll even go ya' one better, if you don't have any trash bags, we'll supply them too!!!
