Was gonna head to Square Top Lakes in the Pike National Forest, but read the fish were wiped out by whirling disease around 2014/2015. Anyone been in the last year or two that can confirm or refute this? Looks like they held some nice cutthroats at one point.
Not square tips but silver dollar. Fished all day and didn't even see a fish jump. Talked to the DOW officer during last hunting season and said they fish killed it. Takes a couple years for the whirling disease to die. So if that's all correct next summer silver dollar squat tops and the rest should be stocked. That info came from a biologist that works for the division of wildlife. Tightlined and travel Light
