Poudre Pond

Caught this nice one a few weeks ago! Didn't think there were any good ones left in there by all the bait fishermen who kill every fish they catch.

Well I'm sure after seeing this post they'll come back for that one.

Nice going Fishbone, if you live in the Greeley area and would like to have better fishing, I am again going to try to establish a group of volunteers to help the city to make our fishing better by making additional rule changes, volunteering for work projects and raising money. I am a member and a volunteer for The Friends Of The Greeley Musemus and we spent $35,000 last year on a project and are.looking to spend that much or more this year. Think this type of group could also do the same. I had the blessing from the mayor on down except the head of the parks department and he has retired and the new one is for it.

The head of the recreation dept. and I plan on using my little boat and sonar to explore the Poudre and maybe some other ponds in Greeley. Glenmere is the only one that boats are not permitted. If you would like to contact me you can at mikkbuzz@gmail.com

That's a nice bass
I fish poudre ponds at least 3 times a week and always see people taking undersized bass I'm surprised a bass that big is in there
Why can't people just follow the rules?

It would be nice if DOW would stop by now and then to check fishing licenses at least.

Just this last Saturday I had my license checked for the first time in the last three years fishing the Fort Collins area, and I usually fish 4+ days a week when the water is not frozen. Doesn't seem to be a priority around here either.

We need to turn violators in to the CPW. Check the back of your license for instructions. There just aren't enough wardens to catch most violators.

Nice bass. I fished there about 3 mornings a week for the past 3 years and have watched fishing slide downhill very rapidly. Fishing for several hours on perfect days and not even catch anything over 3-4 inches, whereas, the years before catching fish was fun, and releasing all but a limit to bring home once in awhile. I've never seen licenses being checked in that time, watched many "fishermen" take 2-3 or more limits of fish out of the lake from my pontoon boat and not even worry about being watched. A lot of trash started being left around the lake so whenever I'd fish, I would pick up trash and barrel it where I would park. You have to enforce good practices to make it a successful fishing area and I haven't seen any enforcement there in 3 years other than a city truck cruise by in the mornings once in awhile. it IS a nice little pond and I hate to see it being misused. Thanks for your efforts Volunteer folks, but I think your overwhelmed on this one & need some backup.
