Banner Lakes
Post By: PIKE FLY      Posted: 10/13/2012 11:52:13 PM     Points: 745
I had a the opportunity to duck hunt at Banner Lakes State Wildlife Area today, and had a grand ole time. The ponds seem like your typical warm water fishery and I was wondering if anyone has fished it and how it was. I don't plan on fishing it any time soon since it is closed to fishing until the end of the 2012 normal waterfowl season, just curious as to what might be in there. In addition, I heard a rumor from another hunter there are pike in there, which of coarse seemed far fetched, can anyone defend that case?

pikefly: i've fished there before and have caught many fish that wouldnt or shouldn't be in there. You only have one way to find out, try at it yourself after waterfowl season.

How did you do on your duck hunting, did you limit out?

Sounds good, yup my buddy and I were just 1 under or limit each so it was pretty good, especially for our first time out this season.

I don't know if you'll ever get a chance to ice fishing it due to the waterfowl season running into early February.
