Been in Fl. a couple weeks now and hittin the ICW lites at nite for some fast snook action. These guys pull hard and leap like a rainbow in the fast movin H20. Most are 20-25" but the occasional 36" will put the 8wt to the test. Small white flys match the baitfish and work well as the snook attack from under and cause a frenzy on top.
The bad news is the 35 year old dolphin ''Beggar" was found dead. He would always be around lookin for hand-outs.
nice, i want your life. Fish colorado all summer long and florida in the winter, must be nice. What do you do for a living because i want an applacation.
Beautiful fish you have there! I sure miss fishing for snook back in FL. My old man was a guide outta Tampa and i spent many a summer with him chasing those guys. Snook are hands down my favorite game fish. Strong fighters, smart, and delicious. -FLFisher

FTG- IMO the snook kill was minimal S of Sarasota, but Tampa Bay took a hit. They still have the season closed for harvest but are considering reopening soon on the gulf coast.
BF- Right now fish, before custom homes in Larkspur. Retired in 03 and never looked back.
Erik-- Snooks are top shelf eats but the season is still closed. You have to get thru alot of smaller ones to get a keeper 28-33" slot limit.

Bummer about Beggar...I have pics of him starting in 1999 and through the early 2000's...cool old dolphin with lots of scars. I'll dig them up and post. He always messed up the fishing when he showed, but he loved ladyfish snacks! Any word on whether it was natural causes? Was he found near Albee Road?

CL-- Beggars partially decomposed body was found just north of Albee Rd. Fish hooks, line, and other undisireables were found in the stomach and he was taken to Mote Marine for autopsy. Too much human contact they say and several broken vertibrae from props. There has been red tide on the beaches and lots of dead fish and they are working to clean up before all the snowbirds arrive
