shadow mountain canal

hit the canal today , got to the lake at sunrise , fished the fly rod with a two fly combo , i used a goldbeadhead rs2 , and also a ice cream cone , fished them down about 6 to 7 ft , ended up catching my limit of kokanee , also got some rainbows mixed in too , i used my slip bobber and pink jig and caught afew salmon in the morning , i saw afew others fishing bait and catching trout , here is a pic of th kokes

Just doing some homework here. Isn't fishing the spillway illegal now?

"FROM SHADOW MOUNTAIN RESERVOIR DOWNSTREAM TO LAKE GRANBY INCLUDING COLUMBINE BAY TO THE TWIN CREEK INLET:
1. Fishing prohibited Oct. 1-Dec. 31.
2. Snagging prohibited."

He wasn't at the spillway, he was at the canal. Totally different.

I am guessing Kokee means the canal which runs from Grandby INTO Shadow Mountain., not the outlet of Shadow Mountain which runs into Grandby. This canal is one of the inlet waters into Shadow Mountain and water is pumped from Grandy. Kokee is not a rule breaker!

sorry if I sounded accusing. I was going to stop up there on my way to GM in the morning and I always like to make sure I'm following the rules so I was just trying to get some clarification.

Where exactly is shadow mountain canal? I am thinking about going tomorrow, and would love to go and try to get myself some kokanee. I would hate to end up at the spillway and not the canal.

You'll see when you get there. It's totally obvoius. Get there before sun up or you won't have a spot to fish. Super crowded on the weekends.

So the canal is on the north side of Shadow Mountain Reservoir, not on the south side, is that correct? The south side is the spillway?

if u come on 34 you will see a sign that says green ridge camping area take that right turn and follow the road , you will drive down the road and then over a bridge that is the canal under the bridge , take the left after u go over the bridge and park in the parking lot , good luck to u and remember no snagging in the canal
