Lake: Horsetooth Reservoir
great day on the tooth

Went up to the tooth today with my feather tossing friend. We were going to start at the inlet but it was packed with lawn chair anglers and after watching a few slimers come out we decided a new location was needed. The good news is the water is at least 7' up from last week due to the increase of flow at the inlet. The bad news is that the inlet is snag city(we watch a dozen people break off in about 20 minutes) and there is alot of large floating/sinking debris coming in with the water. So, we hauled over to the swim beach and started knocking them down right away. Several slimers, 4 over 16" bows, and some smallies. Worked the shore all the way to the point at the inlet cove and really didn't find a bad spot. Definitely better quality fish than the inlet and as I said zero competition. Hopefully it just keeps filling up and more areas will become productive soon.also starting in October the pay stations will become automated, I don't know what all that means but I am sure exact change will be needed and no checks. No pics, left my phone at home on the charger. Good luck and tight lines. Gfunk out.

Gfunk good job on the catchin. Is this "feather tossing" friend you refer to a fly fisher? Thats funny crap if so. Did he catch any tossing feathers? Also the automation will probably be charge card only.

Yes captain fluffy tossed is a fly fisherman and together we have a pretty good 1-2 punch for finding fish at different depths and presentation's. We love to harass eachother and that's where feather tossed came from. I think you are right about the automation but need to read the sign tomorrow before I post it here(you know how well misinformation goes over on this site). Thanks and good luck at Boyd tomorrow.

And yes Lew, feather tosser caught a nice brown and lost a 24"+ bow right at the shore. It was heartbreaking for him and the source of many funny comments for me.:)

By the way the inlet is closed for the season. Just thought I would save you all a trip around the Res.
